Get a load of this – just wrote a harmless little piece about a trip I made to the Caribbean, where the U.S. war on drugs is in full swing, killing off the tourist appeal of small towns. Go to the beach for a bit…go shopping…come home to an e-mail warning that I’ve had a background check run on me. I may be reading your next post from a cell under the U.S. embassy in San Jose…wondering what I might have been. Very timely…
